Advocating for Railway Workers Since 1975

The National Federation of Railway Employees Union (NFREU) is one of India's largest railway workers' unions, representing over 45,000 active members across all 18 railway zones.

Founded in 1975, NFREU has been at the forefront of negotiating better wages, improved working conditions, healthcare facilities, and pension reforms for railway employees and their families.

Our mission remains clear — to protect the rights and welfare of every railway worker, to ensure their dignity, and to build a stronger, more unified workforce for modern India.

1975
Founded
NFREU established with 500 founding members across Northern Railway zones.
1982
First Victory
Secured the first major wage increment and improved service conditions for railway workers.
1995
National Expansion
Expanded to all 18 railway zones with 20,000+ members across India.
2008
Digital Initiative
Launched digital member registry and online grievance redressal system.
2018
Safety Campaign
Led the National Railway Safety Campaign resulting in major policy reforms.
2025
Golden Jubilee
